Loop: An Innovative Instant Water Heater

Loop is not just your ordinary water heater. Unlike conventional tank heaters that continuously heat the same water, Loop heats only the right amount of water to the desired temperature. This not only saves energy but also ensures that you never run out of hot water. The microwave heating technology used in Loop allows for quick and efficient water heating, providing an instant supply of hot water.

One of the key features of Loop is its compact design. Measuring just 300mm x 200mm, Loop can easily fit into any modern bathroom or shower console. Its edge-less curved shape is not only aesthetically pleasing but also facilitates the easy propagation of microwaves, ensuring complete conversion of microwave energy to heat water. This design also allows Loop to be 60cm long, the minimum length required for water to absorb the incoming microwave energy.

Loop is designed to be user-friendly and convenient. It can be connected to the electrical system just like an electric bulb, without the need for a plug and cable. Temperature control is simple, with a knob located at the bottom of the longer hand. Loop offers three temperature settings - hot, warm, and normal water - allowing users to find their perfect bathing temperature. This eliminates the need for a mixer, saving both energy and space.

The Loop project started in July 2016 at the Department of Industrial Design, School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi, India. The design team, guided by Aditi Singh, Parag Anand, and Ruchin Chaudhary, aimed to create an innovative method of water heating for bathing that would save both time and energy. Through extensive research and creative problem-solving, they successfully developed Loop, a product that revolutionizes the way we heat water.

Loop has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2017, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Home Appliances Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements. Loop's innovative use of microwave technology and its sleek design make it a must-have product for any modern bathroom.
